How to Study for the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Exam Part 2

How to Study for your CCNA

  • Option 1 - Self Study (Self-Paced)
  • Opton 2 - Enroll Yourself in a Training

Option 1 - Self Study (Self-Paced)

Kung na-try mo na magtanong-tanong sa mga groups, forums, or sa kaibigan mong nasa IT field kung paano mag-aral para maging CCNA, malamang ang karamihan sa sagot ng mga yan is mag-SelfStudy ka.

Mas tipid kasi pag Self-study.

Pag nag-Self-study ka, hawak mo oras mo.

Kaya mong isingit yung aral mo sa free time mo.

There are 2 Ways to Self-study

  • Books
  • Online Courses
Using Books

Meron din namang ibang libro na pwede mong basahin for your CCNA.

Using Online Courses

Nakaayos yung course in such a way na nagbi-buildup yung knowledge mo from the very basic to the most advanced topics ng CCNA.

At lahat ng yan,  pwede mong gawin at your own pace – kung ano yung available time mo to study.

Option 2 - Enroll yourself in a training

There are 2 ways:

1.    Enroll in Training Centers

2.   Enroll in Online Courses

Enroll in Training Centers

  1. Bootcamps
  2. Cisco Academies
Bootcamps

Ang mga bootcamps yan ay isang fast-paced training na ang objective is to discuss to you all topics in the CCNA curriculum in 5 days.

This type of training is not recommended sayo kung ikaw ay zero knowledge o walang network background kahit anong sabihin pa nila sayo na pwedeng pang-Zero Knowledge yung training nila.

Malulunod ka sa information dyan. Do not expect na they will discuss things to you in detail para makasunod ka – dapat may previous knowledge ka na para maka-relate ka.

Diba sabi ko sayo may 2 parts yung CCNA? Yung Theoretical and Application part?

Bootcamps focuses on the Application part.

Configurations, Verification and Troubleshooting.

Ang mga bootcamps more on Configurations sila – not on the Verification and Troubleshooting phases.

So, ganun ulit, although you will be able to configure the technologies kasi ibibigay na nila sayo lahat ng mga configuration syntaxes, and in most cases, yung configuration itself na. Tignan mo na lang sa whiteboard or sa projection screen, type mo sa router mo, and voila! Naka-configure ka na 😉

But, if you’re expecting na i-discuss nila sayo yung Verification command outputs in details, and to discuss to you how it works, or kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng lahat ng mga nakikita mo dun sa output – you will be disappointed. They don’t.

And if you expect to be better in the Troubleshooting part, and you expect them to teach you the proper mindset in troubleshooting network scenarios – prepare to be disappointed as well.

Uulitin ko, bootcamps just focuses on the Configuration Phase (The easiest of all the phases) .

But, if alam mo na kung ano yung meron and approach nila sa mga bootcamps, and still gusto mo pa rin mag-enroll, what are the criterias that you need to consider when choosing the right CCNA Bootcamp center?

I’ve created a separate blog post and video for this:

Cisco Academies

When you enroll in Cisco Academies, yung CCNA training nila is offered in 4 modules – eto yung tinatawag naman na Slow-Track Training.

Kung ikaw ay zero knowledge or no network background, this is recommended for you.

Kasi, yung curriculum na ginagamit nila is the same Curriculum as designed by Cisco since they are accredited by Cisco.

Cisco Networking Academy Dashboard

Yung flow of lecture sa mismong Cisco Academy Training Center would follow yung lectures na nasa loob ng Netacad na website.

So, in terms of the detail as to what Cisco really wants you to know, covered yan dun lahat.

Each Training Module runs for 3 months depende sa Academy na mae-enrollan mo.

So in terms of the Theoretical Part of the Curriculum, covered lahat ng mga Cisco Academies yan. And everything is discussed in detail.

With regards naman sa Application Part, since Cisco din ang may gawa sa Curriculum na ginagamit ng mga Cisco academies, they make sure na everything is covered with regards sa Configuration, Verification and Troubleshooting phases.

Take note that, Cisco Academies uses Cisco Packet Tracer in their hands-on exercises.

They have real devices, pero they are mostly just for show. Yung actual configs are done sa Packet Tracer.

If you are interested in enrolling in Cisco Academies you can check out this blog post as well:

Enroll in Online Courses

Isa sa Best Choices actually when you want to receive a CCNA Training is to enroll in Online courses.

Meron akong CCNA course available: https://courses.mnet-it.com/learn/CCNA200-301

I know, meron kang agam-agam with regards sa mga online courses like most Filipinos do.

But, one of the advantages of enrolling in Online courses is – you can study anytime. Hindi mo na kailangan pang bumyahe sa training center every weekend, or mag-leave for a week just to receive

training.

Also, yung online course ko takes care of everything na kailangan sa CCNA studies mo:

The Theoretical Part

I’ve discussed everything in detail – in layman’s terms. Lahat ng concepts na kailangan mo, pwede akong makipagpustahan sayo na maiintindihan mo yan lahat and you can relate them sa mga present knowledge na meron ka even though isa kang Zero Knowledge or No network background.

Because the reality is, kahit sila hindi pa nila alam kung sino ang magtuturo talaga – they just

Pwede mo na agad i-assess kung OK ba ang approach ko on delivering the theories, because I give out free lectures and tutorials through my study group, fanpage, youtube channel, and sa mga free courses offered ko.

Some training centers they also have their own youtube channels as well, you can check them out. Yung mga videos na nire-release ng mga training centers, and other Filipino instructors na

nago-ooffer din ng mga online courses like mine – parang trailer yan and preview of what you can expect sa Actual Training na babayaran mo na.

Look for social proof. Reviews. Don’t enroll in a Training blindly. Know who will be teaching you.

I’ve taught so many types of people in my Cisco teaching career – Fresh graduates, Career shifters, Flight Attendants, the Military, may mga College instructors, even a janitor who wanted to change his

career ( by the way, he’s already in the middle east working as a Networking Professional).

And I know how to deliver yung mga nakakantok na networking concepts so that you’ll understand and mag-stick sa utak mo.

So for the Theoretical Part of the CCNA exam – covered ko yan 😉

Application/Configuration Part

I know, na isa ulit sa mga concerns mo for online courses is the Configuration Part.

Pero know this, Bootcamps and even yung mga Cisco Academies all uses Network Simulators sa mga hands-on exercises nila.

Real Devices are just used for familiarization, para at least nakakita ka na ng Real Cisco Device in real life.

In my Online courses, I use the same Network Simulators na ginagamit ng mga Bootcamps and Cisco Academies.

And if gusto mo talaga ng mga Real devices for familiarization, pwede kang magbuo ng sarili mong lab sa bahay.

Meron akong separate tutorial kung paano magbuo

ng sarili mong lab: https://www.facebook.com/mnetsolutions/videos/278630869709827/

Merong 3 Phases ang Application Part – Configuration, Verification, and Troubleshooting.

And, yung mga lectures ko are done so that you would develop Critical and Analytical Thinking for the Troubleshooting part.

Meron akong mga Free courses na nagtuturo ako ng configuration, these are ENTIRELY FREE, register ka lang dun sa teaching platform ko and click enroll dun sa FREE course:

Cisco Routing Basics : https://courses.mnet-it.com/learn/CiscoRoutingBasics

Basic Linux  : https://courses.mnet-it.com/learn/Basic-Linux--FREE-COURSE-

Lahat ng mga software na kakailanganin mo para makapag-configure, paano mo papaganahin sa PC mo, yung mga network topology files na kailangan mo para magkoconfigure ka na lang is included in the course.

Lahat ng mga software na kakailanganin mo para makapag-configure, paano mo papaganahin sa PC mo, yung mga network topology files na kailangan mo para magkoconfigure ka na lang is included in the course.

Yung configuration part ng course ko is divided into 2 parts.

1.    Yung follow-on Configuration lecture

2.    Individual Lab Exercise

Sa follow-on configuration lecture, sabay tayo magko-configure – same approach na ginagawa ko dati nung nagtuturo pa ako ng classroom classes.

After the configuration lecture, may individual lab exercise para ikaw naman, magawa mo sa sarili mo.

May mga troubleshooting  labs din ako dun, bibigay ko na sayo yung lab, may configurations na, and based dun sa napag-aralan mo, kailangan mong ayusin yung mga configurations para gumana.

I’ve been a student before, nakapag-enroll na ako sa mga Cisco Academies, nakapagenroll na rin ako sa Bootcamps, nag-selfstudy din ako.

Lahat ng possible options to study for the CCNA nagawa ko.

And alam ko kung ano yung mga problems ng mga students, and I made sure na yung Online course ko covers everything na kailangan mong malaman to pass the CCNA exam, and to pass a Technical Interview once naja job-hiring process ka na (But that would be discussed sa ibang

panahon na 😉 )

And I know that this is the best option for you, because I made it to be the Best 😊
